About Me

BACKGROUND – I have been teaching at Boulder Creek since 2006.  I graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 and am highly qualified in secondary mathematics and cross-categorical special education. My wife and I live in Anthem and we both teach at Boulder Creek. We will have been married for five years this August! No children at the moment, but our two dogs keep us busy and are always happy to greet us at the end of the day. We enjoy biking, hiking, playing tennis, and golfing (when it is affordable). I enjoy cooking and grilling, as well playing guitar and keyboard. I find rest and relaxation with a cup of coffee and a good book on the weekends.

One of my goals as a special education teacher is to help your student discover all that they are capable of and to feel comfortable doing so. I also want them to feel safe in my classroom. Students frequently stop by to see me after/before school to talk or work on homework. If they are ever struggling in ANY of their classes, I will be glad to assist them after school. I stay after school almost every day. As long as I don’t have a meeting, I’m here to help. All they have to do is let me know ahead of time.

MY PHILOSOPHY - I believe that the best way to learn math is to experience it first hand. While we will still cover the necessary concepts and meet the required standards, we will not always be sitting in class doing endless pages of math problems. I believe the best way to learn math, is to interact with it on a variety of levels. All of my students will have the opportunity and ability to succeed. I place appropriate demands on my students and expect them to step up and put forth the effort to succeed.
